nue. This restaurant is superior to other Mexican restaurants in the Charleston area, in my personal opinion. From the very second you walk in, the wait staff there treats you like family. You are almost always seated right away, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. You are brought a full basket of fresh tortilla chips, and delicious spicy salsa. In just a few short minutes the waiter or waitress comes out to take your order, and your food is always ready very quickly. Your food is brought out sizzling hot with melted cheese all over your plate.
The best time to eat at La Carreta is most certainly at lunch time. Even though the restaurant is crowded during lunch, it is worth the short wait to be seated. The lunch specials are priced between $5.00 and $7.00, and you are always brought more food than you are able to eat. My personal favorite is the lunch special #6. For around $6.00, you are brought a large taco, burrito, and generous helping of rice. I always end up taking half of it home and eating it for dinner too. For $6.00, it's a deal that you cannot beat! My husband likes the lunch fajitas, and for around $7.00, they are a steal! Lunch for me and my husband is rarely over $15.00.
