The city of Marseille, France is packed with amazing landscapes. Travelers frequent the city to shop around and take pictures of the breathtaking views of the landscapes. The 1900's Notre Dame dela Garde Basilica is one of the most visited places by travelers and residents as well because of the wonderful landscapes of the hills where it is situated at. The cathedral was constructed by the architect Esperandieu with utmost creativeness and resourcefulness. The famous basilica is a huge Romano-Byzantine building located in the hills of the southern part of the Vieux Port.
The basilica is the highest site of Marseille at 154 meters. Francois I had a fort constructed there in 1524 but the first chapel was actually constructed there in 1214. In 1864, the basilica was consecrated, providing everyone with the most remarkable view of the city. You will be able to find a large Virgin Mary statue that is situated above the basilica's 60-meter high belfry.
You will be able to access the basilica by walking or climbing the steep hills. So aside from the great views that you will be able to find there, you will also have the ultimate workout for your hamstrings, thighs, and calves. But if you do not wish to walk and climb you could also take the minitrain or bus. Incredible panoramic views of the city and its surroundings are available for you to savor.

Are you ready for some fabulous rough landscape? Do a little walking after taking a bus to Luminy and get a sight of the Calanques. Visit the Bellevue which offers beautiful views. Hike the Calanques for about 6-7 hours and just enjoy the breeze and the breathtaking sights.
