Every year certain holiday events in Boston capture the hearts and minds of local residents, families and visitors. This could be your first time or fifth time attending one of these must-see holiday events in Boston. It is events and performances like these that can infuse your winter months with holiday revelry and joy.

Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker
Dates: December Nov. 29-Dec. 29, 2007

For the 40th consecutive year, the Boston Ballet will perform the holiday classic tale of "The Nutcracker." The performance features the traditional Tchaikovsky score, 200 plus children from the Boston Ballet School, and the Boston Ballet Orchestra. There are also some changes to the second act, and a new set which accommodates the dancers, giving them more room to dance.

There are ticket packages available for families and groups. Evening performances run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30[m. There are also matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm, with the noon performances on Friday, December 14, 2007 and Friday, December 21, 2007. Sunday shows are at 5:30pm. Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol
Dates: December 11, 2007 through December 23, 2007

The New Repertory Theatre performs an adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, in an all-ages show. Tickets range from $30 to $55. Arsenal Center for the Arts

Holiday Pops
Dates: December 10, 2007 through December 27, 2007

The Boston Symphony Orchestra performs their traditional concert of Holiday Pops.

Sounds wonderful! I have never seen a play like A Christmas Carol or a ballet like The Nut Cracker, but would love to. My family didn't really do things like that when I was younger. I would really love to get my kids involved in things like this though. I think my daughter would really love seeing a ballet performance.

I've love to see the Nutcracker performed there as well as some of the other events. I also enjoyed the reader-friendly layout of this, easy to see the details about each event :)

It has been decades since I've seen the Boston Ballet's Nutcracker and I still remember how gorgeous those costumes were.
