Company Breaks October Sales Record Set in 2005

, Inc. sold a total of 114,799 vehicles during the month of October. This defeats the previous October record which was set back in October of 2005, in which 110,895 vehicles were sold. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. is composed of the Honda and Acura divisions. The Honda Division led the way for the company with a 3.4 percent increase in sales over October of 2006. Meanwhile the Acura Division had a 22 percent decrease in sales volume when compared to October 2006. This information was provided in a recent press release from American Honda Motor Co. Inc.

The Honda Division had a record setting October with 101,913 vehicles sold. This was up 3.4 percent when compared with the sales totals for October of 2006. Two of the models for the Honda Division had record Octobers. The Odyssey was one of them as 14,451 units were sold. This was an increase of 24.4 percent when compared with October of 2006. The Fit sold 4,868 units in October. This was a record month for the Fit as well, and was a 67.3 percent increase over October of 2006.

Other vehicles that had solid sales numbers for the Honda Division included the Accord and the Civic. The Accord saw an October sales volume of 30,936 units, which was a 25.8 percent increase over October of 2006. Meanwhile, the Civic had 23,809 units sold in October which was a 7.3 percent increase over October 2006. Overall the Honda Division's line of cars performed well as they had an increase of 19.8 percent when compared with October of 2006.

"Car sales are gaining momentum and response to the new Accord has been positive," said Dick Colliver, who is the executive vice president of American Honda. "Car sales are up for a variety of reasons, but the number one reason is that compelling products with inherent value generate consumer interest.", concluded Colliver.
