Our society has led us to believe that we need as many vitamin and mineral pills as we can get. This is the result of heavy marketing informing us that the more vitamins we take, the healthier we will be. Everyone needs vitamins and minerals. Both are important aspects to helping us achieve a good bill of health and a longer lasting life. Many of us take vitamins in the form of pills. We hope that the pills will be a good substitute to us not following a proper healthy diet. What we do not realize is that our society is taking too many vitamins daily.

There are ten vitamins that we should not take. Unless you have a doctor who advises you otherwise, the ten vitamins that I am about to list are ones you should skip. The reason for this is because many of these vitamins are giving you too much of a good thing. Each pill delivers a dosage that could be rather harmful to your body in the long term.

Vitamin A:

Vitamin A is a nutrient that is found naturally in many of our daily foods. Our bodies produce a ton of this vitamin on a daily basis. Taking a pill can lead to several complications. Excess amounts can accumulate and be toxic to your body. Too much vitamin A intake can lead to blurry vision, severe headaches, and even projectile vomiting. You can also suffer from liver, bone, and central nervous problems.

Beta Carotene:

Experts believe that it would be pure stupidity to take this pill as a supplement to your daily diet. Excess amounts of this pill can increase the risk of lung cancer in smokers. Imagine if you were taking this pill and your body had three times the amount that you actually needed. This high level of carotene is linked to increasing the risk of aggressive prostate cancer. Believe it or not, this high level is easily attainable by only taking one pill a week. Imagine if you were taking a pill once a day for the entire week.

Vitamin C:

First of all, zinc and iron aren't even vitamins--they're MINERALS. Second . . . oh, never mind. Readers, please get your nutritional information about supplements from a QUALIFIED professional.

I was shocked as well. This is because I need it for my diet. At least that is what I thought.
