This simple Earth Christmas Ornament is an awesome Christmas craft project for a geography class. Kids can make this great looking earth Christmas ornament and take it home to Mom and Dad to hang on the Christmas tree.

To Make this Earth Christmas Ornament You Will Need:

Masking tape
Exacto knife
Scissors
Paint
Newspaper
Glitter (optional)
Plastic cutting board
Gold glass ornament

To get started you may want to break out a map of the world. This will be a great guide for cutting out your countries and continents for the globe Christmas ornament.

Now, draw out your continents on some paper. It is a great idea to draw a horizontal rectangle across your paper that is as tall as your Christmas ornament craft.

Once the continents are drawn on the paper you want to cut them out with scissors.

Take your masking tape and run it across a plastic cutting board, sticky side down. You want the edges to butt up next to each other, and overlap just a little.

Now, trace your cut out continents onto the masking tape. Use the exacto knife to cut one each out. Make sure to get as many small details as you can.

These small details will really add a lot to the finished Earth Christmas ornament.

Now, peel the continents off the cutting board. Start pressing them on the gold ornament. Press the edges firmly down, but do not break the ornament.

You can also use plastic Christmas ornament for younger kids so there is no risk they will get over zealous and break the glass Christmas tree ornament.

Now, hang the small Christmas ornament form a hook on a branch in the yard. You want to mist blue spray paint over the whole ornament. This can be accomplished in one to two coats, just avoid any drips.

If you do get a drip on your Earth Christmas Ornament, wipe it off. Spray another coat of blue paint on top.

You can also sprinkle on some glitter (blue glitter) while the paint is wet.

Let the blue paint dry on the glob Christmas ornament. When the paint is dry start peeling the masking tape continents off.

Now, use glitter gold puff paint or paint me to line each of the continents on the Earth Ornament. You can also add latitude and longitude lines in the same manner!
