What can be done to remove the green tint caused by hard metals in pool water? Are there home remedies that effectively remove the green tint? Fortunately, there are a few home remedies for removing green stains from blonde hair. These remedies have been used by swimmers, and many have found these remedies very effective.

Before Trying Home Remedies

If you have sensitive skin, use caution when applying home remedies such as the home remedies listed here. Test a small area of the skin to check for an allergic reaction or skin sensitivity.

Aspirin

Aspirin is good for more than pain relief and clot prevention. Aspirin is also used to remove green stains from blonde hair. Simply place eight regular aspirins in a glass of warm water, and allow them to dissolve. Saturate the hair with the aspirin and water, and after approximately fifteen minutes, rinse away the aspirin along with the green tint. Wash and condition the hair as usual.

Tomato Juice

Tomato juice is said to effectively remove green coloring from blonde hair, leaving it shiny and very manageable. The acid in the tomato juice helps remove the undesirable color. Simply pour about 8 ounces of tomato juice into a plastic cup, and take it into the shower. Before washing, saturate the hair with tomato juice, and allow it to remain on the hair for several minutes. Thoroughly rinse out the juice, and wash and condition the hair as usual.

I am in my 40's and I have naturally blonde hair that keeps getting darker every year so I also color my hair blonde. The pH in our pool was off so my hair turned a nice limey shade o' green. I tried Coca Cola which helped a little but not a lot. I went swimming again the next day and my hair turned green again. I tried lemon juice in the shower on dry hair, waited maybe 5-10 minutes, and then rinsed. It removed most of the green. Went swimming that same day and my hair turned green again. Applied lemon juice again that night and it removed most of the green again. Now I have maybe a slight tint of green but for the most part the hair is blonde again. I think lemon juice is the way to go! I am going to use it again today and not go swimming afterwards.
