This week, Alien Soldier, Power Golf and Super Mario Bros. 3 arrive on the Virtual Console. Here is a brief rundown on the titles of yesteryear.

Alien Soldier

Developer: Treasure
Publisher: Sega
Original System: Sega Genesis
Original Release Date: 1995 (Japan)
Genre: Action
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 900
ESRB Rating: E10+
Alien Soldier is a much underrated action game that wasn't availble in America until now via Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console. You will have to run and gun your way (a la Contra) through the intense levels. Not to mention that Alien Soldier is developed by Treasure, whose pedigree in action games has been top notch.

Power Golf
Developer: Hudson Soft
Publisher: Hudson Soft
Original System: TurboGrafx16
Original Release Date: 1989
Genre: Sports
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 600
ESRB Rating: E10+
Power Golf is a golf game that plays in a top-down perspective. Since Wii owners already have Wii Sports, there is really no reason to buy Power Golf on the Virtual Console.

Super Mario Bros. 3
Developer: Nintendo
Publisher: Nintendo
Original System: NES
Original Release Date: 1990
Genre: Platformer
Controller Options: Classic, Gamecube and Wii Remote
Wii Points: 500
ESRB Rating: E

To celebrate the release of Super Mario Galaxy, Nintendo releases the legendary Super Mario Bros. 3 this week for the Virtual Console. With incredible creative levels along with super fun gameplay, Super Mario Bros. 3 is considered by many as the best Mario game ever created. It is easily the best game release on the Virtual Console this week.

The Wii is garbage. Not a true new generation system. Just an last gen system with a "new" controller that ain't so new.
