There are quite a few inexpensive things you can quickly do around your house before putting it on the market. These little techniques will quickly give your home a higher resale value without sinking a fortune into the projects. For instance, do your bathroom walls need a complete make over? Make them brand new in a jiffy by putting up linoleum on the walls. Many stores that sell linoleum have end-of-roll bargains available. A liquid-nail type of adhesive works perfectly to secure the linoleum. Since linoleum comes in many colors and styles you can easily choose something that will suit your bath decor. It is easy to cut and goes up quickly. It wipes clean without scrubbing and makes the entire bathroom look new.Another method for making walls pretty in a hurry is to use fabric. Simply launder cloth first, then cut the pieces to the wall's measurements. Dip the fabric pieces in starch that is mixed according to package instructions. Now hang the fabric on the wall, using a straight edge of some sort to smooth the cloth.
Ugly, stained carpet? Try dyeing it. If it's a light color it will be easy to dye it a dark color. And dyeing carpet is much less expensive than purchasing new floor coverings. Dyeing the carpet is time-consuming, though, and must be done in a certain manner. Use a sponge mop and bucket of dye to apply. More than one application may be necessary. Do not soak the carpet by using an excessive amount of liquid. Dry quickly by setting up fans.
Hoods over the tops of ranges can become stripped of paint or start to look rusted. A new hood is expensive but you can improve the one you already have with little expense. Spread a layer of glue over the hood and add rocks. Rocks should be lightweight, like you use for an aquarium. You can use hot glue to make the project progress even quicker. When using hot glue you can use larger rocks, such as white driveway gravel. It's a catchy look to your kitchen and matches most decor themes. The same can be done around window sills or baseboards.
