Boise is a wonderful place to spend a Thanksgiving weekend, and for visiting relatives, there's an amazing assortment of activities that are unique to the city.

Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees

The Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees, which runs from November 21 to 25, is a Boise tradition which has been delighting families for 23 years. Dozens of decorated trees fill the Boise Center on the Grove in a dazzling display of light and color. There's lots of musical entertainment, crafts for children and holiday tea. Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

One of Boise's best winter events is the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, November 23 at Boise's Center on the Grove. This festive family event is full of old fashioned Christmas caroling, music, and candle lightings, all beneath a towering Christmas tree. The evening can get quite chilly so dress warmly, and do plan on bringing along a little cash as well for hot donuts, hot chestnuts, and hot chocolate. Winter Garden a Glow

This enchanting and whimsical event opens Thanksgiving evening, November 22, at the Idaho Botanical Gardens. The gardens are artistically arranged for the Holidays in a spectacular display of color, featuring nearly 250,000 Christmas lights. There's plenty of hot chocolate, cider and roaring bonfires to keep visitors warm, with caroling and visits by Santa and his reindeer. Dress warmly and do plan on spending between one to two hours at the Gardens for this spectacular light display that's fun for the entire family.
