All military personnel who have served in Middle East conflict zones are vulnerable to TBI. The Defense and Veterans Brian Injury Center has estimated that up to one in five soldiers returning from past conflicts, suffered from TBI. However, the widespread use of bombs means that the incidence of this condition amongst Iraq and Afghanistan veterans could be much higher. TBI can lead to chronic disabilities with respect to behavior, thinking, and memory. Such disabilities are difficult to comprehend for victims and their families alike. TBI therefore requires professional management and advice.
