If you are looking for the best holiday light displays in California, then you certainly have a lot to choose from. I have lived in Los Angeles before, so I am familiar with all that there is to do in the Los Angeles area during the holidays. These are some of the best holiday light displays that I have seen in the greater Los Angeles area around the Christmas season.

Each year one of the largest and most well known holiday light displays in Los Angeles is the LADWP Holiday Light Festival. It is put on by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and be seen in Griffith Park. You will find a one-mile stretch of Crystal Springs Drive all lit up for the holidays. Expect this to be very crowded and you can plan on spending at least an hour making this walk. Remember that is is less crowded during the week than on weekends and you should have a pleasant experience. You can experience it from November 21st to December 30th from 5 pm to 10pm. You do have the option of driving or walking, but traffic is quite thick and walking is advisable. For more info, check out the official website as it gets closer to November 21st.

If you are a local in the Los Angeles area then you probably already know about the holiday lights at Candy Cane Lane. The Candy Cane Lane neighborhood is in the Woodland Hills area on Lubabo Ave and Oxnard St, Woodland Hills, CA 91367. And it supposedly dates back around 50 years. This is a residential neighborhood where the neighbors treat decorating their homes with lights as if it is an Olympic sport. To avoid the crowds, go early in the season as the traffic gets horrible the closer it gets to Christmas. And of course, weeknights are less crowded. If you want to walk instead of drive, look for parking on Oxnard or Hatteras Street.
