QUOTE: "A little learning is a dangerous thing;
Drink deep, or taste not the Pierian spring:

This quote is said to be by Alexander Pope (born May 21,1688 - died May 30,1744)

IT was in his "Essay on Criticism" which he wrote when he was only 23 years old. He started writing poetry at the early age of twelve. He is perhaps the third most quoted greatest poet behind Shakespeare and Tennyson. He is thought of as the greatest 18th century English poet and was best known for his heroic couplets. He usually wrote in satire but also is famous for translating the works of Homer.

There is a lot of wisdom in this quote. People that think they know what they are talking about but don't., often stick their foot in their own mouth. It relates to how it is better to keep quiet than to look like a fool in the end.
