Arts and Crafts Activities for the Letter F - These activities are designed with preschool, kindergarten, and homeschool students in mind.

Get out the finger paints to celebrate F day. Let each child paint a picture that begins with F, such as a frog, fire truck, flour, football, or frog.

Use one of the completed and dried finger paintings to make a fan. Get each child started folding the fan and let them complete it. Staple one end and unfold, for a beautiful, colorful fan.

Math Activities for the Letter F

Arrange a flashlight math review game. Turn off all of the lights and pull the shades in one room. Shine the flashlight on a blank wall or on the ceiling and outline various geometric shapes for the class to take turns guessing. Then move on to writing numbers (don't forget four and five)

Make fish patterns. Cut out kitchen sponges into fish shapes and dip them into various colors of tempera paint. Begin a color pattern using the fish on a large piece of butcher paper, such as orange fish, blue fish, blue fish, orange fish... then let the children take turns guessing what color fish comes next and completing the pattern.

Outdoor Activities for the Letter F

Give a lesson on how to kick and throw a football, and then take some time to practice. Get some smaller Nerf footballs that each child can handle easily.

Arrange a visit from a fire truck and take the classes outdoors for an on site field trip. When the visit with the fireman is finished, designate an outdoor bench or play structure as a "fire truck," and let the children's imaginations take over.

Snack Time with the Letter F

F day is a fabulous day to make a fruit salad. If you want the children to help out with the cooking process, give each child a plastic knife and let them cut some of the softer fruits. Toss the fruit salad with a dressing made of vanilla yogurt and a drizzle of honey. Don't forget to get out a Wiggles CD with the song "Fruit Salad" since the kids will probably be singing it anyway. Fig Newtons or fish shaped crackers are also great snacks for F day.
