The title sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? What in the world is a 'manwochild' is what most of you are probably thinking. Let me explain.

I'm not single nor have I been for about 2 years now. I do, however, find interest in relationships and the psychology of the partners. I'm allowed to - it's my life.

Women must be the most complicated animal on the planet earth. Even though I am one, I still do not understand the mindset of the majority of women. Let me rephrase that. I understand the mindset, but I don't agree with it at all.

In general, women claim to want certain things from men. Ideally, they would combine to form the perfect man (successful, handsome, honest, romantic, etc.) and the two of them would live happily ever after while riding a white horse into the sunset. Ladies, it's time to wake up and get real. This isn't a fairy tale, we don't live in a kingdom and the closest thing to a white horse around me is the White Horse Pike - hardly a romantic road to ride off into the sunset on.

Not to say good men do not exist. There are plenty of men out there who are about as close to perfect as you can get, they're just either married or gay. Right? Wrong. It's not that they're all either married or gay - it's that you're probably too picky. Here comes the explanation of the 'manwochild.'

Women want a man - someone who gets his hands dirty, fixes the house and the cars, defends your honor, etc. The problem is that's not the common man anymore. I know more women who can work on a car than men. I know plenty of men who don't know the first thing about fixing a leaky faucet. Defend your honor? Wasn't that a song from a Robin Hood movie? Oh wait - that's 'fight for your honor.' I get those confused sometimes.

Women want another woman - someone who listens, offers to cook when you're tired, cleans, does laundry and offers to drive the carpool so you can take his car to work. He does look cute in that minivan, doesn't he?

Women want a child - someone who needs you and makes you feel like you're always needed, says 'I Love You' just because, etc. Then, after he's done finger-painting, the two of you can go to Friendly's for an ice-cream sundae.

Give me a break.
