Celine Dion is on the verge of releasing an anticipated album called Taking Chances in only a week. Her career has spanned over 26 years. At this year's World Music Awards, Celine took home the Legend Award for her outstanding success in music around the world. The tapping will be broadcast worldwide throughout November.

The World Music Awards features the world's best selling artists of various countries and commends them on their major success globally. This year, the awards are back home in Monte Carlo, hosted by Prince Albert II. The awards are given out based on sales of records, not by popularity and voting committees such as the Grammy Awards or American Music Awards, giving artists a fair chance at winning. John Kennedy, the Chairman of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in which has been encouraging fans to legally buy their favorite records, will be attending to honor each winner in person.

Each year, an artist is presented with the Legend Award. This award is given to those who have had outstanding success worldwide and contributed significantly to the music industry. Previous winners of the award include Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and many many more.

This year, looking better than ever, Celine Dion had the pleasure of accepting the award for her success in selling more than 200 million records worldwide over her 26 years in the business. It was presented to her by Prince Albert, who said her voice "soothes the world's hearts and creates smiles of love across the face of the world."

Celine spoke in her native Canadian French dialect and she thanked the most important people who made her career flourish, her family. Growing up, Celine would sing with her 13 siblings and her parents who each were invested in music. She also thanked her fans around the world for helping her achieve the success.

"A huge thanks to my fans who have supported me throughout the years," she spoke with immense sincerity in French.

Oh sorry. Well, I learned quebecois when i was 12 and was always taught it was a dialect because of the different words and different sounds as opposed to standard French. I have language books that specifically are for canadian french. But, technically it is a dialect and so is English. Webster.com: a regional variety of language distinguished by features of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation from other regional varieties and constituting together with them a single language.

Great article and Celine Dion deserves this award with all the success she's had in both French and English. One comment on this article : I am from France and Celine doesn't speak a Canadian French dialect. French speaking people in Canada speak French (it's not a dialect)and we understand everything Celine says when she comes to France. It's the same difference as people who speak English in England and in the U.S.A. You understand each other but the accent is different... that's all.
