My hubby took me to the Millennium Alaskan Hotel in Anchorage Alaska, for my Mother's Day/Anniversary celebration. Our daughter is married and moved away, and he wanted to make me feel special on this Mother's Day. The reason we chose this hotel was because of the package deal they were offering. It was a fantastic bargain and we were not disappointed! About the Hotel
This hotel is located in Spenard. For visitors needing a place to stay near the Anchorage International Airport, this is a good choice because it's only 1 mile from the airport, (and they do offer free shuttle service to and from the airport). They also offer the service of free transportation to the shopping district in downtown Anchorage, which is only 5 minutes away.
The Millennium Alaskan Hotel is a modern hotel with a nice lobby. There are 248 rooms available. The rooms have satellite TV, air conditioning, a small refreigerator, pay per view movies, irons and ironing boards, and data port for high speed internet access.
Hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased here, a nice touch if you are visiting Alaska to go fishing, as so many tourists do! They also help visitors plan their Alaskan excursions by assisting them in booking hunting trips, flight-seeing excursions to Mount McKinley, and glacier and wildlife cruises. There is a jogging path that goes around Lake Spenard. They also offer a restaurant, gift shop, health club, sauna, whirlpool and steam room.
The hotel has a float plane dock that sits near Lake Spenard and Hood Lake, and it's the busiest floatplane base in the world. It's fun to watch the planes come and go, and we didn't notice any noise in our room from the airplanes.
Our Room
While we didn't have a view of the water, our room was very modern and clean! We had cable TV, a built in hair dryer (something I find very appealing), and coffee makers. Nice for waking up early and enjoying a cup of coffee in your jammies!
