A perennial is defined as a plant that will actively produce for more than three years. Perennials are different than other plants that are classified as annual plants, which bloom for only one season. The life cycle of an annual plant is short and they constantly require replacement every year. A perennial will continue to bloom, year after year. A biennial is another plant type with a bloom cycle of two years, but like the annuals, they will need to be replaced more frequently than perennials. Gardeners have a large variety of perennial plants to choose from. You can pick specific sun or shade loving perennials, if this is what you desire. Several of them are self-sowing, which means they will reproduce. Others can easily be grown from clippings or seeds. The perennials can be spread out widely by using these methods, which cuts down on their overall cost. You can buy a few of them and purposely establish a large beautiful garden within a few years. Conditions Needed for Perennials

It is very important to put sun-loving plants in sunny areas, and shade-loving ones in the shade. If they are placed in the wrong location, they will not survive. You should make sure you prepare the soil before you plant them. These plants will be in the same spot for a long time. They will actively continue to bloom annually, as long as they have good soil conditions, along with sun (or shade), as required.
