Yesterday was a very hectic day for me, and it got worse before it got better. I am busy all week, getting ready for a crafts bazaar this weekend, and I have seven children to feed and care for at 1:00 in the afternoons due to half days of school. On top of that I also had to make dinner for our God daughter who recently had a baby girl. I needed all the help I could get, and part of that help was picking up two packages of Duncan Hines Oven Ready! Homestyle Brownies from my grocery store.

Product Description

There were two varieties of these in my grocers freezer, and they come in a bright red box with the words "NEW" written on the front. They are available in the classic chocolate brownie style or the version I purchased, which I call blonde brownies but Duncan Hines refers to them as having a Premium Golden Brownie Batter. The batter is white, and it's full of chocolate chips.

The box is 17 ounces, and the brownies are packaged in a black plastic, oven safe pan. They are ready to bake, with no preparation and best of all, no clean up! The pan is smaller than I thought it would be, measuring 10" by 6/5".

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, take the plastic pan out of the box, remove the film on top, place on a cookie sheet and put in the middle of the oven to bake for 25-27 minutes. After removing from your oven, let them sit for a couple minutes on the baking sheet, and let the brownies cool in the tray.

Thoughts

This is a very expensive product. It was not on sale, and I paid $3.39 for each box. I could have purchased several boxes of brownie mix for that price. However, I wanted to take my God daughter and her husband a nice dinner with a dessert, and I didn't want them to have any dishes to wash or worry about returning to me. If I had chosen a boxed brownie mix, I would have also had to buy one of those foil redi-pans to cook it in. Considering what that would have cost me, this was worth the cost of $3.39.
