With the Smashing Pumpkins, Rage Against The Machine, and Led Zeppelin and a number of other acts getting back together, 2007 might go down as the year of the epic reunions. However, there are plenty of notable acts that have met untimely ends and for one reason or another, don't seem likely to reform. This list is a tribute to some amazing bands that met untimely ends and whose reunions would be much appreciated throughout the music world 5. Vendetta Red - A little known and underappreciated punk outfit hailing from Seattle, Washington, Vendetta Red formed in 1996 and gained a modest following through their enthusiastic live shows. Throughout their 10 years together, the band released two EPs and four full-length albums, the most recent of which, Sisters of the Red Death, was released in 2005. Vendetta Red enjoyed modest success with that album as well as 2003's Between the Never and the Now. Walking a fine line between punk and emo, the band had a distinct sound and managed to breathe some new life into a scene overloaded with cookie-cutter acts wallowing in mundane mediocrity.
4. Desaparecidos - In what should be, but probably will not, observed as a great shame in the wide world of punk, Desaparecidos will probably only be remembered merely as a footnote in Connor Oberst's brilliant musical biography. The indie-rock phenomenon was a collaboration between a number of Saddle Creek musicians that focused on politics and materialism in American culture. The band had a gritty, raw sound and energy propelled by driving guitars and wailing from Oberst. Desaparecidos disbanded just when they seemed to be getting big, as Oberst elected to concentrate on his now famous Bright Eyes project. The band only produced one EP and one full-length, 2003's Read Music/Speak Spanish, but evidence of greatness can plainly be heard.
