Keep bugs off your garden veggies
Yes you can just purchase bug dust to keep the bugs off the delicious vegetables you are growing, but bug dust has chemicals and I just don't like the idea of putting chemicals on the food I am going to feed my family. It is cheaper and safer to mix some black pepper with flour and sprinkle it around your plants. Bugs will no longer invade your garden.
Temporarily fix a radiator leak
This one surprised me. My husband and I took the kids on a hiking trip to Old Mans Cave one warm summer day. As we were getting ready to leave our radiator started leaking, we were over an hour away from home and did not have the money to take the car to the shop. We stopped at a local store and my husband had me buy a dozen eggs and a can of black pepper. I thought he was loosing his mind but he insisted it would repair the radiator to get home. (The store did not have any stop leak.) My husband cracked open 3 of the eggs and mixed it with some black pepper and poured it into our radiator after it cooled and filled it with water. On a funny note the store owner came out side and saw what my husband was doing and jokingly asked if the radiator wanted some bacon also? He then said that even though I thought it was crazy it would work, that his father had done this same trick before. We did indeed make it home.
Keep your colored clothes bright
Here is another use people roll there eyes at me over when I suggest they try it. If you add a teaspoon of pepper to your wash load your colors will stay bright longer. My Mother always kept a can of pepper in the laundry room as her Mother told her about this use for black pepper. I to keep a can of pepper close by for my laundry. It works.
No more ants in your kitchen
