This Christmas craft is a great way to use a digital photo to transform a plain and boring Christmas ball ornament into a yearly tradition with the family! If you want you can use a digital photo of each member of the family and create a group of Christmas ornaments.

To Make a Family Photo Christmas Ornament Craft Project You Will Need:

Digital Photo

Scissors

Puff paint

Glue

Ball shaped ornament

Paint brush

Decoupage

So, have the kids (or you can) take some photos of the whole family or each family member. Use the printer to print these out on regular copy paper.

You will want to print with the best ink level possible of your paper though. The glue and decoupage has a tendency to fade the image little, so sharper images will work best.

Another tip is to let the photos dry over night. Freshly printed photos will easily blur with the white glue medium.

Now, use scissor or pinking sheers to cut out the photo. You can leave a nice white edge or cut the white edge off.

Use the decoupage or white glue to pain that back of the photo. Press this onto the glass or plastic ball ornament. Paint some more medium on top to seal it. Do not paint all over the ornament, just on the photo and a little over the edges.

Now, let this dry.

Tip: It really is a fun and whimsical twist to take multiple photos and cut out just the heads in a polka dot or circle shape. Glue multiple heads all over the ornament to create a polka dotted look.

Now, on to the finishing details. I like to use puff paint in a glittery Christmas color to make frames for each photo. Simply run a nice thick bead of puff paint around each photo.

The puff paint will need to dry for at least 24 hours on your digital photo Christmas ornament.

There are other options if you do want to use puff paint. Try using small piece of pipe cleaner cut down to size. Use hot glue to adhere them as frames on the Christmas ornaments.

Another option is to use twine to outline the photos. This is a great rustic look and very friend on the old wallet.
