Creating a stylish magnet board for your home office is the perfect way to give your work space that custom designer look you see in many home decorating magazines.

This project can be completed within a day, and with very few tools. Here is a list of the items needed to complete this project; Pre-cut galvanized sheetmetal, wood moulding, decorative wood corner blocks, hand saw or power saw, screwdriver, hammer, 1 can of spray paint or 1 can of wood stain, 1 tube of all purpose construction adhesive, tiny screws (optional), and picture frame hangers. But don't run off too quick, there are some things to consider before going to the hardware store.

First and most importantly, you will need to decide how big you want your magnet board to be. Sizes of pre-cut galvanized sheetmetal are generally sold in measurements of 12" X 24", 24" X 24" and 24" X 48". The size of your sheetmetal is going to determine how much wood moulding you need, so you will need to figure this out before going to the store. Shortcut:(If you want your magnet board to be 24" X 24", like mine you will need two 8 ft pieces of moulding, the piece for the front can be decorative, but for the back, make sure you get something plain, inexpensive and simple).

If you are making your magnet board a different size than mine, make sure you get enough moulding to equal the measurement of the length of four sides of your galvanized sheetmetal. For instance, if you want a magnet board that is 12" X 24" you will add the length of the four sides 12" + 24" + 12"+ 24" = 72". Moulding is generally sold in 8 ft sections, so you just need two 8 ft pieces, one decorative for the front side and one plain for the back side of the frame.

Second, you will need to decide what color frame you want for your board and whether you want to paint or stain the frame. You can leave it unfinished if you like, or you can choose to paint or stain it the color of your choice.
