How to Spice Up Regular Pancake Batter

Everyone loves a warm, fluffy delicious pancake on a quaint Sunday morning. After a few weeks straight, this can get quite boring, and it's time to mix it up. Making pancakes from scratch is not ver
y difficult if you look up a few recipes on some popular food sites; however when you roll out of bed dying for that buttery flap-jack the last thing you probably want to deal with is exact measurements and recipes. There are some really excellent packaged pancake mixes out there, so choose your favorite batter and start mixing things up.

Peanut Butter Pancakes

This is my personal favorite super easy pancake alternative. Make your normal pancakes, and when they make it to your plate spread butter on them. Next whip out the peanut butter, creamy or chunky works just make sure it's your favorite brand. Spread the peanut butter all over the top of your pancake and watch it melt a little. Drizzle your favorite syrup to top it all off, and savor the peanutty-goodness.

Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes

This may sound like an odd combo to some, but I am certain at one point we have all had a chocolate dipped frozen banana, or a nice warm slice of banana bread. As with all of the recipe variations begin with your normal pancake batter, and in a separate bowl mash up one large ripe banana for every two cups of batter. Stir in the banana mash with the batter, and sprinkle in as many chocolate chips as you feel are necessary. The beauty of these pancakes is that is about eating as much or as little banana, or chocolate chips as you would like. Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes are great smothered in butter and syrup, and if you have children they may even want to drizzle some chocolate syrup on top, and then sprinkle some powdered sugar.

Cranberry Nut Pancakes

  • A simple addition of some nuts to your batter can change things up
  • Try different flavored syrups instead of the same ones over and over
  • Take your favorite pie ideas and use them as inspiration for topping ideas
