The state of Maine Laptop Initiative provides a G4 Apple ibook for every 7th and 8th grader in the state. It comes preloaded with Noteshare. Noteshare provides a vehicle for sharing information between computers with a mere click of the mouse.

What can I do with Noteshare? Noteshare has the capability of sharing anything on the teacher's laptop with up to 36 students at one time. It is set up to look like a spiral notebook. You can add tabbed sections for specific information. With a few simple steps, the teacher can share links to the Internet, or if the teacher prefers, these pages can be embedded into the notebook so that they open in a smaller window when the student accesses the notebook.

The teacher can share video and audio files, and can even create voice messages and insert them at the appropriate place.

Information can be typed into the program at any point.

Teachers can create assignments and/or tasks the student must complete. The students can then either print the completed work or send it back to the teacher electronically.

Differentiated Instruction: By using Noteshare, a teacher can easily differentiate instruction to meet the needs of an individual student or groups of students. With a few quick changes, a teacher can provide different tasks to different students.

Multimedia Presentations: The teacher or student can create a multimedia presentation with in the Noteshare document. Individual pages can be set to run as a slide show. Through the use of clickable links, or embedded video, audio, and images the teacher and student can share resources.

Takeaways
  • Create different tasks for individual students or groups of students.
  • Embed audio, video, and voice messages.
  • No more lost papers.
Did You Know?
Noteshare provides the opportunity to respond to individual student work right in the program, making revisions quick and easy.

I've been using similiar software to teach patrons about our library. It's easy to use and a great teaching tool.

Just because Methuselah used to refer to me as "that old guy" doesn't necessarily mean I'm an old timer, and women never get old---like wine, they mellow with age.

Funny. I hadn't thought about that. Guess it was to make us old timers feel comfortable with the format.

What's the world coming to? It's funny they make it look like a spiral notebook. 10 more years and no one will know what those are.
