Love Poem #1

i wrote a love poem for you
it was about how hard i tried to make you understand
how long i waited for you to wake up and
decide you wanted to be a real man
i just don't understand
why you aren't good enough for me
if i know that you're good enough for me

i wrote a poem about the days,
weeks, months
i spent trying to get over you
trying to make myself hate you
trying to forget you

everytime i woke up and realized i
hadn't thought about you in days
i had to start all over again, erase the pain

now we play mind games with each other
dance in circles when we're together
trying not to touch but wanting to so much
it hurts
and everytime we're close enough that
i can hear your breath
i just impulsively want to lean in
for the kiss
i want to so much but i don't dare touch
taboo! taboo! what would we do?
if we admitted we were both wrong in the first place?

so i wrote a poem for you
or about you
and i'm not sure it was a love poem
because, while i might love
i'm just not good at those

and if it was i wouldn't admit it
embarassed
afraid you wouldn't feel the same way
