3D Star Ornament Craft
To Make Three Dimensional Star Ornaments for Christmas You Will Need:
Card board or foam core board
Permanent marker
Paper
Scissors
Exacto knife
Hole punch
To get stared you will need either some old card board boxes or some yellow foam core board.
On you plain old paper go ahead and draw out the type of star you want to have. This can be a five sides star or even a north star type star.
Now, cut this star shape out. Trace it onto your card board or foam core board. You want to trace two stars onto the stiff surface.
Now, cut out both of the stars. Once the stars for the ornament are cut out you want to go ahead and neaten any rough edges with the scissors.
Now, in the bottom of each cardboard or foam core star you want to cut a slit about ½ to 2/3s of the way up. A simple straight line.
DO NOT cut the star in half.
Now, take both stars, one in each hand. Pres them together so that the slits line up and the stars become one. If you can push them all the way together to make the three dimensional star ornament, then pull them part.
Take your scissors and make the slit a little longer.
Now, try again.
Once the base shape of your three dimensional star shape is made you need to punch a hole in the top with a hole punch.
Now, paint your cardboard out in any color you want. Spray paint will work best.
Let this dry. You can add glitter, puff paint, glitter paint, and any other embellishments.
Now, hook your ornament hook through the hole in the top of the three dimensional star ornament. Hang on your Christmas tree and you are finished!
Tips: If you used cardboard to make your three dimensional star ornament, then try using a puff paint to clean up the edges. Most cardboard boxes are corrugated and have rough edges. Line these rough edges with puff paint to create smooth and glossy lines on the edges of the three dimensional star ornament.
You can also tie matching Christmas ribbon onto of the star right around the ornament hook.
