Generally, the best way to get a large scholarship will be due to your SAT or ACT scores and your high school grade point average. Most schools will offer you quite a bit of money if your test scores are good. However, even if you don't think that you did all that well on either your scores or your grade point average, be sure to check out the schools website and contact their financial aid/scholarship department and ask what the minimum score requirements are. Often, schools will have smaller sized, but still decent amounts of money, available to you even if you do not have very high scores.
If after you find out what the school is willing to offer you directly you decide you will need more to cover the cost of your education, be sure to check out the scholarship money given by people who have donated money to the school. Often the school will post these people on the website and will list the requirements needed to obtain the scholarship. Often these types of scholarships are aimed at a more targeted audience because the donor sets the terms. Sometimes the money is available of to graduates of a certain school, while other times it may be based purely on financial need. There are a variety of different scholarships available, so be sure to see which ones you qualify for.
