Curious George Plush Dolls have now taken their place on a long list of toys this season that are being recalled for lead paint content. With many popular toys like Aqua Dots being pulled from shelves, it leaves a parent wondering just what is going to be safe to purchase this season.

Aqua Dots, Curious George Plush Dolls, Robot 2000, Winnie-the-Pooh Spinning Top, Dragster and Funny Car toy, "Big Red" Wagons from Northern Tool & Equipment Co. and Coby Electronics DVD/CD/MP3 Players are just some of the products that have been recently recalled by the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is responsible for protecting the public from consumer products that can pose serious risks, injury or even death. Lead paint content seems to be the big recall reason this season; but fire hazards, choking hazards, strangulation risks and other safety issues can all be cause for a product to be recalled.

While we all want to see those smiling happy faces when our kids open up their presents for their birthday, Christmas, Hanukkah, or whatever occasion we are celebrating; we certainly don't want to do so buy putting our children at serious risk of injury.

So what is a parent to do? You should definitely stay on top of what products are being recalled for safety issues. This is not very hard to do lately as you can't seem to turn on the radio, television or pick up a newspaper without seeing or hearing of some kind of product recall.

I suggest that you visit the site of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to check for recent recalls that you may not have heard of yet. They also have an RSS feed that makes it easy to catch up on current recalls while you are checking your news. For the more techno savvy, they have podcasts and the ability to check recalls via your mobile phone.
