Reasons Why Home Daycare is Better Than Daycare Centers

The Comfortable, Educational, Loving and Safe Choices for Your Children

My passion in life has always been children since I was a child. I wanted to be a mommy more than any thing else. I knew that before I was old enough to marry and have kids, I could work with children in different areas and that is what I did. After summer camp, babysitting and then
college, I ended up at a daycare center as a full time teacher. It was my dream job, at first. I loved that I had my own classroom. I thought that I would always work at a daycare center, that there was no place that was a better fit for me.

I soon found that I had more children than the daycare center state law allowed and no one seemed to care. I was unable to give any special attention to my 15 plus students because there were so many children without help. I was putting out "fires" all day at the daycare center instead of teaching them anything. What was wrong? Had I just picked a bad daycare center?

I was not permitted to set the limits with the children that I wanted. My boss was so concerned with losing daycare center clients that she insisted on us putting up with unacceptable behavior from the children. The few children that were well behaved at the daycare center were practically ignored because I was dealing with all the problem students. I wasn't allowed to talk to the parents about the problems because they couldn't know that our daycare center was anything but perfect.

I saw one side of the daycare center after the parents left and saw a different daycare center when they were around. Eventually, I hated working there. I felt like I was the only one trying to help these young blessings become great adults. My hands were tied everyday while working at the daycare center.

I left to become a nanny for nearly 5 years. During that time, I had several friends who were working at a daycare center who had almost exact stories to tell. The children were mass taught and no one was given the attention that every child deserves. We all experienced small amounts of art, activities, or one on one time at the daycare center where we worked.

We had our kids in a daycare center. The care was very bad at best. They are all about money. I was picking up my kids and the state came in and the director then went around putting kids into different rooms mixing ages so they would not get into trouble. We then put our kids into a homeday care and it has been a great choice. We think home day care is the only way to go.

It seems like a lot of parents just don't care as long as they like what they see at drop off and pick up, they don't ask questions about their child's day! I wrote an article about staying home with your children at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/932255/simple_ways_to_be_a_stay_at_home_parent.html?cat=25 If you can't stay home with your children, I think a good reliable home daycare is the way to go.

Wow, I so agree with you. I have worked at centers, and now I have a small home daycare. It is a world of difference. Daycare centers are businesses and it seems to be all about the money. Classes were maxed out, the directors I've worked with have been totally out of touch with the issues and needs in the classrooms, the staff turnover is awful, and they are terribly expensive!!! People think that since they are paying so much money, they are choosing the best care for their children, but in reality they have no idea how chaotic it is behind closed doors. It is so much better in a home daycare. I can be more flexible with the daily schedule, I have playpens for naptime instead of cots (getting 10 2 year olds to lay on their cots to sleep is nearly impossible), and the children are happier, less accidents, less sickness, etc. Good job writing on this topic. People should really evaluate where they place their children and visit throughout the day!! It seems that a lot of pare
