Whats a person to do when there isn't much food left in their home. Well back when I was younger things were so different, way of living, prices of food, and of course people's salaries varied from time to time, and were much lower than they are now. So we had to learn the hard way, when things were tough and there wasn't much money, we use to eat or put together what ever was in the house at that time. For example, there has been times where we had to eat plain tomato sandwiches, rice, peanut butter sandwiches, and basically what was the cheapest foods at that time. There has been times also when my mom use to take leftover noodles and just slap some meat in the pan and that was our dinner. I never took anything for granted when I was young, because as long as I had a roof over my head and the love and support from my family and friends, It didn't matter what we would eat as long as we were fed.

So many people in this world today take food for granted sometimes, what I mean by that is, if they have leftovers they flat out refuse to eat them, and they throw the food in the garbage, which hurts me so bad knowing what I had to go through when I was younger, and all the starving people in the world today. I have learned so much about how important food really is, if it wasn't for food how would we survive? So I learned to improvise with the food that I have and not the food I don't have.

Pattie, you are so very smart. Most people won't think about eating left overs, but I do. My son in law won't eat them either if he knows they are left over. I have to sneak them on him and he doesn't know. Great advice!

A truly great article Pattie. I always stretch out my meals too and never discard leftovers if I can make another meal out of it, which is exactly what I'm going to do for tonight's dinner

Thank you for the great tips..Nice article. My mother-in-law could make a whole meal out of nothing..At least that was what it looked like to me...I didn't see the opportunities in the pantry and she did....

Thanks for sharing some of your food tricks. I too make leftovers from leftovers until there are no more. I learned that from my mom.
