For Big Muscles, Grab a Whey Protein Supplement!
Whey protein can benefit many of your body's systems. From your physical appearance and performance, to the unseen cardiovascular system, whey protein can boost it all. Whey protein is made from whey, a by-product of cheese, by isolating the globular proteins from the whey itself. This leaves a soluble mixture of beta-lactoglobulin, alpha-lactalbumin, and serum albumin. When comparing biological value in protein sources, there is no source with a greater value.
Whey protein tends to be easily digested which makes it a great source of protein. Even some people who are lactose intolerant and cannot drink milk can often tolerate whey protein. When consuming whey protein in the isolate form, the lactose is removed from the end product. Lactose is the sugar that is naturally found in milk but through the process of forming whey protein, it is removed. The isolate form also has had all the fat removed from the whey protein, and is 90% protein composition when measured by weight.
Other forms of whey protein include a concentrate and a hydrolysate. A concentrate of whey protein contains low fat and low cholesterol but have more carbohydrates due to the lactose still in the protein. A whey protein concentrate has between a 29%-89% protein composition, which is obviously quite a large difference. You can choose the percentage that appeals to you the most and change it as you see your need change.
A hydrolysate is a predigested, broken down protein whey form. Hydrolysate protein whey is very readily and easily absorbed into your body. They tend to be the most expensive form of protein whey due to the fact that they are almost 100% absorbed, so you can take less.
