Trying to come up with fun and easy ways to decorate for the holidays? Here are some ideas the whole family can enjoy without emptying your pockets.

1. Holiday Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins has always been a favorite Halloween tradition. Why not carve pumpkins for Thanksgiving and Christmas too?! You can continue to celebrate the rest of the Harvest season and the end of the Harvest season. I suggest buying the faux pumpkins you can purchase at a craft store such a Joanne's or Micheal's. They discount them for more than 50% off after Halloween plus you can keep them for next year. They also discount the lights but they are usually orange which doesn't work so well for Christmas. Try battery operated tea lights. You can find them at http://www.orientalTrading.com. If you do decide to purchase a faux pumpkin keep in mind they are flammable so you can't use a candle inside of them. You can make your own stencils or find them on line (http://painting.about.com/od/freestencils/a/stencils_xmas.htm, http://painting.about.com/od/freestencils/a/stencil_thanksg.htm). I spray painted mine with copper and orange paint for Thanksgiving and white and glitter paint for Christmas.

2. Floral Arrangements

Get the whole family involved in making a holiday floral arrangement by having everyone pick out their own flowers for the arrangement and put them all together. Silk flowers from a craft store would be the best option because you can keep reusing them every year.

3. Paper snowflakes

This is the simplest and most low cost Christmas craft you can imagine. All you need its a piece of white paper for this. You can find the instructions on how to make them at this website http://highhopes.com/snowflakes.html. You can choose from the designs on the web page or be creative and make your own. I enjoyed making my own because part of the fun is not knowing what it will look like until you unfold it.

4. Paper turkeys
