Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana is the place to go durning humid summers in Southern Indiana. For years, the amusement park has been attracting visitors from different states across the country. But not enough that you have to wait long lines and sweat before you play!

There are many things to visit while on your trip. Let's start with "The Raven", a wooden rollercoaster that was voted the 7th best in the country by the Chicago-Sun Times. It's fast, fun and bumpy, all what a roller coaster ride should encompass.

The park has recently added "The Voyage". Before my wife and I went there this past summer, I thought I would never again experience a rollercoaster ride that was so unique that it could actually scare the living daylights out of me. This one did. Straight down, back up, straight down, back up. That only begins the describe the lose your breath feeling that sets in, all in just the first few seconds of the thrill ride. But that was just the beginning. This ride is over a mile long! You might need a break afterward. You can also take a ride on "The Voyage" which races through part of Lincoln Forest. Not to mention, many other rides to get you wet, dizzy or just plain happy.

After you braved the rides, then you can make a path toward Splashin' Safari. It's one of the best water parks in the country hands down. There are 2 wave pools and two different lazy rivers. I like to be lazy, and it's great to get wet when it's so hot outside.

Considering the park is located in Southern Indiana, there are less crowds which translates to smaller lines. But this isn't always the case. Saturdays and Sundays as you can imagine are longer lines. I can't imagine you would have the same experience at a larger theme park. And this is from a guy who enjoys Kings' Island in Cincinnati as much as anything.

Holiday World is one of the best hidden secrets when it comes to vacation spots. I was reluctant to travel there since it's about 45 minutes from Evansville. But our trip was well worth it. It was terrific for the outing we had planned and I think you may enjoy it, too..
