Autism is now the fastest growing developmental disability, with a rate of 1 in every 150 babies born with autism. It is clear that something has caused this condition to skyrocket within recent years, and the opinions on the cause of this are strongly divided. One thing, however, is certain; the more people that are born with this disorder, the more difficult it becomes to ignore this growing epidemic.

It seems there are as many theories as to the cause of autism as there are people who have it. People speculate everything from genetics to Lyme disease, even many doctors are divided on the issue of what may be the cause. The true experts, however, are not the doctors, researchers, or pharmacists. They are the parents and family members of children who have this disorder.

I have spoken to countless doctors about the issue of the current autism epidemic and done an endless amount of research; but the most useful information I always seem to get is from the family members. After all, they're the ones taking care of their loved one; they're the ones who really see behavior patters, and they're the ones who just know the person and how he or she reacts to different things and why this happens.

Family members of autistic people also seem to usually do an enormous amount of research, and nearly all of the family members I have ever talked to about an autistic loved one say the same thing; it was caused by vaccines. Then people say, "but doctors insist vaccines are harmless." Of course doctors say that; if they believed vaccines were harmful they wouldn't give them to people.

To not at least look into vaccinations as a possible cause of autism is a horrible injustice. With all the medical technology we have today, it is amazing that we could not even think that injecting antibodies preserved with formaldehyde and sometimes even containing mercury and lead into a babies' blood stream would not cause serious problems. Even vaccinations given to pregnant women need to be studied more in depth.
