The delicious chicken and the cheap, affordable deals every week have many of us flocking to KFC for a snack or a meal - after all, it's not only convenient, it's also cheap. However, not many of us are aware of how KFC treats their chicken or are aware of PETA's Kentucky Fried Campaign that protests against Kentucky's cruelty towards the chicken. PETA hopes that the petition campaign will convince KFC to change their ways, and treat chicken in a more humane way by using other methods.

According to PETA, KFC does not listen to the advice that their own animal welfare advisors give them; in fact, they did not even bat an eyelash when PETA issued a warning as they were going to set-up an investigation. PETA claims that Adele Douglas, a member of KFC's animal welfare advisors said, "never had any meetings. They never asked any advice, and then they touted to the press that they had this animal-welfare advisory committee." Many of KFC advisors have felt frustrated and used by the situation, and resigned.

A popular phrase is that if a warehouse had glass walls, almost everyone would become a vegetarian. KFC slaughter houses are placed in locations that are hardly noticeable, and the not many people are exposed to what occurs in the warehouses.

PETA, on their Kentucky Fried Cruelty website, claims that they sent undercover investigators to the KFC warehouses, and learned some shocking truths towards the cruelty of the chicken. For one, the chickens are fed unhealthily, and grown up to be over-sized. They are also squeezed into small cages that have broken bars, and can potentially cause many broken feet and wings. The chickens have to deal with horrible living conditions where they are often so squished that they are covered with dirt and each other's feces; also, their cages stink of ammonia fumes. The birds are slaughtered by having their throats slit; those who avoided it would be dumped along with the other chicken into scalding, hot water, and scald to death. Lastly, many workers can frequently abuse the chicken without facing any consequences. Over 850 million chickens are killed each year, and many of them have to suffer.

Unlike these chicken, KFC chickens are horribly tortured before being served on your dinner plate.

I have been a meat and fish consumer all my life until I met my wife Tatyana. My wife has been a vegan all her life, and her personal experiences, discussions and research into animal cruelty led me to, at first, become a vegetarian, by eliminating beef, pork and chicken and cow's milk from my diet. Then, as I learned more, I became a vegan by eliminating all dairy products, fish and items made of honey or products that contain even insects used for color. I am now very happy, healthy and enjoying a wonderful life as a vegan. Our daughter is now transforming into a vegan by watching our lifestyle changes for the better, and for the better of all of the animals that would have been killed, mistreated or tested on for food and products that we no longer use.

I am vegetarian (vegan) and this is the best choice people can do. I didn't like meat from childhood, I thought it's the same like eating dead bodies and it is. And I like animals so so much, they are born to enjoy life like us, like our children and eating them is a crime. Dairy products are not for people, cow's milk is for baby cow the same like human being milk for our babies not for cows. And if you want to be healthy then go vegan, there is a lot of products out there just accept them and stop killing animals ant eat them. If all people would be vegans, there would be no any wars on our earth, because vegan people are kind and wise.

Once you watch the video that PETA made about KFC, you'll think twice before eating your KFC bowl!

I like the KFC bowl combo. It comes with a pop for $4.99.

I became a vegetarian 15-20 years ago when I read that it takes 3 days for your stomach to digest a steak. I didn't want anything to sit in my stomach for 3 days. Years later, I decided that the best reason for being a vegetarian was because my love for animals. Now, the more I read and learn about what is done to animals to feed people, the less I want anything to do with eating meat, chicken, fish. I don't miss eating animal products at all, I feel healthier because of it, and I'm thrilled to be part of the solution rather than the problem of animal cruelty. I urge everyone to join the movement to put an end to animal cruelty in order to feed people.
