Simply Motivated
>) Make a list of the reasons why your success is important.
It is so easy when you first start out toward a goal to be filled with enthusiasm. Sometimes when things do not happen fast enough, the fire starts to go out. If you want to keep that fire going, go back to that list you made of the importance of your success. How will it be when you reach your goals? Is that still important? If the thought of your success is still meaningful, then let that be enough to keep you from giving up on your dreams. If it turns out that the original plan no longer inspires you, then it's time to make a new list of goals.
>) Set small goals to get started.
It seems the hardest part of any journey is that first step. Giving yourself that first push could be just what you need. Make a deal with yourself when you don't feel like working on a project. Promise yourself that you will work for at least a few minutes every day. Once you actually do that, you may find that getting involved will be just the thing you need to start your momentum. After you really get involved in what you're doing, you may not want to stop.
>) Self bribery.
When all else fails, try bribery! If you work on your projects for an hour or so, you get a reward. Take yourself out to a nice dinner or treat yourself to a new outfit. Whatever it takes to keep yourself motivated, but keep it real. If you promise yourself the world to try to get motivated, you know that's not going to happen. The promises you do make to yourself, however, must be kept. If you break your word to yourself, your resistance to attaining your goals just goes up.
These are simple ways to get motivated and they all require action. Choose the one that works best for you and move out of the apathy that keeps you standing still. It takes courage to step out of your comfort zone. Just remember that your success is waiting for you.
