Every day it seems that the cost of every thing that we need in life is rising. A good example of this is the price of the gasoline that fuels our cars and the price of foods that fuels our bodies. Both of these have been on a constant rise lately. With these ever rising costs it is more and more prudent to find ways in which we can cut down the cost of our living expenses. Even the little steps we can take can add up at the end of the month. But you might say you have all ready cut down all you can. At first glance, you might think that is true. Yet, there may still be things you can do that won't really effect the way you live that much, but will save you more pennies, and dollars by the month's end.
Here are a few suggestions:
First, look at one of your biggest expenses, your utilities.
1. You can save on electric by actually learning to turn off a light or shut off a television when you leave the room.
2. Don't run your major appliances such as your washer and dryer at peak hours. During these hours, you should also turn up your air conditioning unit by a degree or two or down a degree or two.
3. Look for deals with your phone company. If you have a cell phone, try to make as many of your calls as you can during those free night and weekend times. It may even save you money to pay a little extra to get that time bumped up an extra two hours. Cingular will let you change the night time hours to 7 pm until 7 am for a mere $8.99 a month. If you make a lot of calls, this could actual save you money.
Groceries
Yes, we all have to eat. But we can save money here, too.
Look for coupons and bargains.
Although coupons are not as good as they once were, you can still find some great sales. This means actually taking the time to look at those weekly circulars you get in the mail and in your newspaper.
It even pays to stock up on items you use a lot when they are on sale. Example: can goods, sugar, frozen items and even fun items such as soft drinks.
Another great way to save money in the food department is to learn how to cook and to do it more often. Fast food and restaurant food may taste good but it really eats away at your wallet.
