If you're shopping for a toddler this holiday season, you may be wondering what type of toy to purchase.

I've compiled a list of hot holiday toys for toddlers to fit every budget. However, before purchasing any toy, be sure to check its recalled status. I've incorporated some classic toys in this list in an effort to move away from the lead paint problem in many of today's recalled toys.

Hot Toddler Toys

1. Wooden building blocks. Yes, this classic toy is still a favorite among toddlers. They love to build them up and then knock them down. Look for wooden blocks without paint to avoid any potential recalls.

2. An art bucket. Purchase some non-toxic crayons, washable markers, and washable paints and place them in a plastic bucket. Add a thick pad of white coloring paper or coloring books and you've got a sure hit with the little ones. For an extra special touch, put a little art apron with the child's name into the package.

3. Little Einsteins. If you haven't heard of the Little Einsteins, then you haven't been around many toddlers! This group of four tiny explorers goes on missions with their friend Rocket. Look for books, videos, or toys with the Little Einsteins. Check out my article on
