It is time for us to welcome the Eclipse Concept Jet to the family. Most jets have price tags in the high million dollar range and are very hard to buy. Finally, the price seems to have lowered for the first time in several years. The Eclipse Concept Jet will bring the cost of a jet closer to a cost similar to that of a private pilot's own plane. This is made possible through the implementation of several new technologies.
A quick look at the Eclipse Concept Jet will not excite a jet enthusiast right away. This is because the jet looks like any other jet. Your perception quickly changes once you look at the engine and the other specs. The plane features a novel placement of its single Pratt & Whitney turbofan jet. The turbofan jet sits atop the fuselage and just forward of a V-tail. What this offers is a unique configuration that generates a better balance. You also get to enjoy better aerodynamics and engine efficiency that is above many other small-jet designs.
The Eclipse Concept Jet is both faster and higher-flying than any of the private propeller-powered airplanes that you can usually find at the same price. This private jet can also cruise at a breathtaking 390 miles an hour. You can also travel at this speed at an estimated height of 41,000 feet off the ground. Planned production for the plane will start in two years. Plan to see the jet around 2011. Estimated prices have the plane at $1 million. This is much lower than any other jet has been sold for. So plan to see more jets in the sky in a couple years.
