Of all the canned meats available in the grocery store, I am a stickler for tuna. I love all kinds of tuna. From albacore to traditional, lemon pepper to thai, tuna has come a long way from when I was growing up. Canned tuna used to resemble cat food and was more often than not runny and watery. Now, with the advent of pouches, tuna has taken on the role of dinner meat, verses the old role of lunch meat. Starkist has moved in to this new realm like a charm with their Tuna Creations Sweet and Spicy tuna in a pouch.

The Starkist Tuna Creations are packaged in 5 ounce foil packages. These packages seal tight the great tuna flavor and offer little or no water in the packaging. This style of packaging makes easy preparation and usage. Each package has 175 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 810 milligrams of sodium. A entire 5 ounce package is slotted to contain 2.5 servings.

The Starkist Tuna Creations in the Sweet and Spicy variety is truly phenomenal. The taste was much better than I ever expected it to be. I am a traditional tuna lover and when I opened the package to find this lovely marinated take on the old, I was sure I would feel the innate need to add mayonnaise. But, I did not. This tuna is great for meals other than lunch.

After opening the package, I noticed how diverse the Starkist Tuna Creations really was. Tossed in pasta, served over a salad, or piled on top of some great whole grain crackers, the tuna tasted wonderful in all situations. The sweetness was perfectly paired with a slightly spicy mood.

For the 5 ounce foil container of Starkist Tuna Creations you can expect to pay less then $2.00. With two packages, I managed to feed six people. I believe this is one of the greatest values I have ever stumbled upon. My family loved the tuna and I was immediately told the meal was a refreshing change from the normal dinner dishes we had become accustomed to in the past.

I will certainly purchase the Starkist Tuna Creations Sweet and Spicy again and again. I look forward to trying the other offered flavors as well. Starkist has taken a lunch favorite and invited it to dinner. This is one great product that the entire family is sure to enjoy in a variety of meals.

Takeaways
  • The Starkist Tuna Creations is a wonderful dinner meat selection.

41 years old and my first time to post a message anywhere. Anyhow, I just tried my first tuna pouch, a store brand of chunk light in water. Amazing! No need to drain, better taste, better texture and much more tuna than you get in a can. I feel foolish that I've been oblivious to the availability of this type of packaging until now. And it takes less energy to produce the pouch. I'll be turning on everyone I can to this.
