Opening in 1991, The Carnegie Science Center is a hands-on experience for the whole family to enjoy.
Located on the North Shore of the newly formed Ohio River (the confluence of the Allegheny and Manongahela Rivers), the next door neighbour is Heinz Field, home of The Pittsburgh Steelers football team.

Floor by floor, let us explore this fine Pittsburghian attraction.

On the ground level, the main entrance, is where you enter and start your journey towards fun filled science fact and exploration.
The RiverView Cafe offers salads, sandwiches, desserts, hot foods, and snacks. Sit outside on the patio to enjoy great views of the Golden Triangle, Downtown Pittsburgh and The Inclines on the other side of the river.
Step outside and enter the USS Requin, a World War 2 submarine, loaded with interactive activities, in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).
The price of admission to the Science Center includes access to the tour of this Cold War relic.

The first floor includes Sciquest, a hands on center where chilren learn from touching and doing. Features an earthquake simulator, a wind tunnel, and other devices designed to bring a smile to the face, and a fulfillment of knowledge to any young (or old) person.
XPLOR is the name of the Science Center store featuring a vast assortment of products and souvenirs including microscopes, telescopes, games, books and toys.
The Rangos Omnimax Theater is a four story domed IMAX Theater. Current offerings include DINOSAURS ALIVE and SEA MONSTERS.

The second floor features the Buhl Digital Dome. A new tour includes Mars with canals and landscapes, from the fourth planet from the sun.
The Sky Above Mister Rogers Neighbourhood features the night sky of one of Pittsburgh's most beloved citizens.
Lasershows help pick out planets and constellations along the Milky Way and beyond.
The Miniature Railroad and Village takes you through Western Pennsylvania with locomotive trains, and replicas of villages and rural landscapes.
