St. Petersburg, Florida, a large city on central Florida's sunny and beach-lined West Coast, is gearing up for Christmas by offering a number of events for the public to attend. Below is a run down of family events sure to please mom and dad and all their little elves. These events are all occurring on Dec. 1, 2007. Do bear in mind that, as many of these events are outdoors, the possibility always arises for weather to conflict with some of the activities. Come and get a photo with Santa Claus, a health screening, and watch as the kids enjoy numerous activities. Running from 8 A.M to 11 A.M., Breakfast with Santa will take place at the St. Petersburg National Guard Armory, 3601 38th Avenue South.Call 1-727-867-0613 for more details.
WaMu & the St. Petersburg Lion's Club Present the Santa Parade; December 1st, 2007
Various clubs and organizations continue an 80-year-old legacy with the Santa Parade, which includes marching bands, displays, floats, and a grand appearance by the red-suited, jolly old elf himself. This free parade will proceed on Central Avenue, down to the waterfront, and then north along Bayshore Drive to 5th Avenue north, beginning at 10 A.M. Call 1-727-525-5950 for more information.
Snowfest; December 1st, 2007
After the aforementioned Santa Parade ends, Snowfest - to take place in Straub Park - will begin. Snowfest, running from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M., will include such fun activities as Toboggan rides on "real snow," skating on a simulated-ice rink, a petting zoo, arts and crafts for children, a climbing wall, a "Kiddy-Land," and food and drinks. Most of the event is free, but some activities will require guests to show a wristband, costing $5.00. To find out more about Snowfest, call 1-727-893-7441.
