The Ninth Malaysia Plan Seeks to Improve Country's Economy and Status

The Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) is a plan for Malaysia for the years 2006 to 2010. The 9MP is focusing more on enhancement of national competition in the country and resilience of the national economy. The 9MP too, at the same time will continue on the effort of reducing or shrinking the gap of inter and intra-ethnic socio-economic disparities. Thus, it will create new and better equality in socio-economic among Malaysian. Eliminating the inequality of socio-economic among Malaysian will foster the multiracial economic activity and bridging the gap will enhance the Malaysia economic and towards achieving the standard of developed nation by 2020. The development of the 9MP will be guided by the Islam Hadhari* guideline as proposed and being used by the government of Malaysia since the governance of the new Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Abdullah Badawi.

The overall macroeconomics during the period of 9MP will focus on sustaining the economic growth and strengthen the economic capacity to absorb the downside risks and shocks. With the 9MP too, the price pressure will be remain manageable under the government control as to cope with the increasing inflation in Malaysia. The 9MP will be using the most appropriate monetary policy to control the monetary effects such as the money supply, inflation, interest rates, stock exchange and foreign exchange. This measure too will be observed the Federal Government operation expenditure will be managed in a better and cost-effective manner. The gradual reduction of Federal Government deficit will be observed without impeded the overall economic growth and the strong balance of payment and external reserves position is maintained at all times.
