I'm no fitness guru, but I have always loved living a healthy life. I strive to "age beautifully," and I think one of the best ways to accomplish this is by eating healthy and exercising properly and consistently. I don't enjoy sifting through 100's of fitness dvds, movies, programs in order to achieve my goals, and finally, I've come across something I can stick with and will grow with me! It's called Yourself! Fitness, and it's seriously, a lot of fun.

I bought the game for Playstation 2 and upon loading, I told the "trainer" my weight, age, and gender. I gave my resting heart rate and proceeded in doing jumping jacks to determine my heart rate after physical exertion. After a few more exercises, pushups, crunches, and squats, my physical fitness level was determined and "Maya" the personal trainer was able to evaluate my current physical state as well as recommend what my goal should be. I then set up my calendar and arranged my workout schedule.

I checked out the recipe selection and found, not gourmet meals that are difficult to make at home, but simple, easy-to-make meals. I have stuck to my regime over the last few weeks and am very pleased at the results. I feel more energetic and stronger, and the sense of accomplishment I get from achieving my short-term goals is very rewarding and only pushes me to work harder.

I'm not doing this to lose weight, rather I'm doing it to achieve better cardiovascular health. Even at the age of 23, I'd like to maintain a healthy heart. Plus, I have a rambunctious toddler who runs me ragged every day.

No equipment is required, but having a few things on hand enhances the experience. I have a stability ball for crunches and some hand weights. Your workout is defined by your expectations, ability level, and what equipment you own. Maya will not make you do an exercise with a stability ball if you don't have one. Also, during breaks between different exercises, she asks how you're doing. If you found the routine too difficult or too easy, you can tell her, and she'll adjust the workout for the next time. If it was perfect, then she'll keep it that way.
