Best Mistake I Ever Made

So, I Didn't Marry an Axe Murderer..

For all intents and purposes, most people would consider what I did a huge mistake. And, I suppose I can see their point - if you are looking at the whole thing matter-of-factly or through the sharpening veils of logic. But one thing this whole experience has taught me is that logic isn't
the God of the universe, and sometimes you take risks, make sacrifices, and do things that everyone around you thinks are foolish. Sometimes, you have to ignore logic and risk mistakes to take a chance at something that will last.

It all began last August or so, just after I had returned home from a two-week vacation, which I had spent helping my cousin shoot an independent film based on my first novel. I'd been a single mom for almost eight years, raising my daughter completely on my own and forbidding myself all those years from getting involved with anyone socially, let alone romantically – because I was too busy being a mom and an employee and everything else. Who had time for love and laughter anyway? Those two weeks on the film set, away from my demanding job and my daughter and my daily dull routines were a complete epiphany for me. I missed my little girl, of course, but while I was there on the film set, I had the chance to interact with adults - the actors and crew of the film, and my aunt, uncle, and cousin - unobstructed by echoes of "Mommy! Mommy!" in the background.

Autumn, I think you and Joey inspired me to take the chance and meet Pat in person. After meeting the two of you in Books and Literature 2, and hearing how you met and got married; when I did meet Pat in the room, I wasn't so leery about meeting him in person. As you know, he and I have been together online since November 2006, and in person since January 2007. We have been engaged since October 2007, and are getting married sometime this year...if we can ever set a date. I love you guys...thanks for being my friends.

I love it!! Congrats to you both!! I'm currently dating a man I met online and I must say that he is the most sensitive, caring man I've ever met. I've had boyfriends that I've met the usual way, but none quite measure up to this awesome gentleman. :P

They say fools rush in... but try telling that to your heart when you're in love. I can totally relate to this. They also say, "follow your heart", and that is exactly what you two have done. I wish you both the very best!

This is a bit long but I read the whole thing.. It's a great story, it's adorable. All of us do stuff sometimes that other people may think is unusual but this is perfectly normal. Anyway it gave you something to write about!

Very cool story. You have a very distinct writing style. I'm reminded a little of Chris Kraus, the author or Torpor and I Love Dick. Have you read her? Anyway, good stuff. Thanks!
