Barbeque Cook-Offs are gaining in popularity across the United States. One of the states that really raises BBQ Cook-Offs to a new high is the state of Iowa. This state is the home of several BBQ Cook-Offs that are held throughout the year. They even have their own Barbeque Society, the Iowa Barbeque Society. This society hosts a website that highlights the latest BBQ news and events, and it is a great place to find a BBQ Cook-Off to enter, or to just visit as a patron. Their website is located at http://www.iabbq.org.

ANNUAL BBQ’LOO AND BLUES TOO!

If you would like to enter or attend a BBQ Festival, and will be in the state of Iowa, then you may want to try to attend the annual BBQ’Loo and Blues Too event. It is usually held during the middle of July each year in Downtown Waterloo, Iowa. This is a KCBS certified competition, and it offers contestants the chances at a good sized purse.

There will be six individual categories that your team can enter including beef brisket, chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder/Boston butt, side dishes, and desserts. It is $40 to enter each of these categories, or $150 if you want to enter all six categories. If you want to enter the chili competition in addition to, or instead of the BBQ competition, then the entry price is $15.00 for this category. Each entrant is given a standard booth that is 20 feet by 20 feet. If you will need more space or electricity you will need to submit the following fees: for a 20 foot by 30 foot space the fee is $15.00, if you want a 20 foot by 40 foot space than the extra fee is $25.00, and if you need an electrical hookup the fee will be $25.00.
