Justin Chatwin, James Marsters Cast in Dragon Ball Z Film
It seems the live action adaptation of the popular anime "Dragon Ball Z" has just found 2 cast members.
According to Coming Soon, Justin Chatwin, who has been seen in The Invisible and War of Worlds will play the extraterrestrial/superhero Goku and James Marsters, best known as playing Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel will play the villain
Piccolo.
Justin Chatwin was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia. He is the son of mother who is artist/documentary filmmaker and a father who is an engineer. He studied commerce in the University of British Columbia. He has starred in War of the Words, The Chumscrubber, Baby Geniuses 2, Taking Lives, The Invisible, The Pornographer's Poem and TV series Taken and Weeds.
James Marsters was born in Greenville, California and grew up with his brother and sister Modesto, California. Marsters has dreamed of being an actor since fourth grade and joined a theater group in high school. Marsters later studied at Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, and Juilliard Drama School. Besides being well known for playing the vampire Spike on Buffy and Angel, he played Dr. Milton Fine aka Brainiac on season 5 of "Smallville".
Since 2002 20th Century Fox has had the rights to make a live action "Dragon Ball Z" film. In 2004 they hired Ben Ramsey to write a draft for the film. Ramsey's draft will not be used for but the film will be Written and Directed by James Wong, who has helmed Final Destination, Final Destination 3 and the Jet Li action film The One. Stephen Chow (Kung Fu Hustle) will produce.
The film is about a powerful warrior named Goku who protects earth from from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. One of those rogues is Piccolo, who is an evil incarnate of the God of Earth.
85% of the film will shoot in Durango, Mexico. The rest of the film will be shot in Estado De México for some shots at Nevado de Toluca. Justin Chatwin has already began training with 87Eleven, a stunt performance team behind such film as The Matrix and 300.
