There are lots of ways to give cheap Christmas gifts to give to your adult friends and family. Unfortunately, many of them are tacky and will make your recipient very unhappy. The trick to great holiday presents is creativity and a little bit of flair. Here are a few ideas for inexpensive Christmas gifts that will please even the most finicky person.Paint or Draw an Work of Art as a Christmas Gift
Do you know how to paint or draw? Then give your art work as a gift this holiday season. Acrylic and oil paints are relatively inexpensive, and last for a long time. Also, you can pick up a pre-stretched canvas for less than $10 at an art supply store. I use Asel art supply for many of my art supply needs.
You can also get what you need at discount stores such as Wal-Mart. Drawings made from colored pencils or pastels on high quality paper make a good Christmas gift, also. You can mount them on a sturdy board for hanging. It's best to frame them, but not totally necessary. If you make your painting or drawing a standard size, you can get an attractive frame cheaply at a garage sale, flea market or Craigslist.
Frame Your Child's Artwork
Run down to your local dollar or thrift store to pick up some inexpensive frames. Then take some artwork which your kids made in school, or have them make something special just for Christmas. Cut it down to size before framing it if necessary. This idea makes a perfect gift for parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Be sure to make the gifts well in advance if it needs to be mailed.
Do Some Woodworking
If you know how to do woodworking, you can create the perfect Christmas gift easily and inexpensively. Many cheap and free woodworking plans are available online and in books and magazines. Some great ideas for wooden gifts include kitchen trivets, coasters, small boxes, picture frames, candle votives, vases, bird houses and feeders, and small decorative items. The great thing about woodworking plans is that, unlike Christmas gifts, they can be used over again for future holiday gifts.
