This Christmas consider giving gifts that will keep on giving. Opt for stashing stockings with practical items. Here are my top ten items for your level headed guy or gal.

Vitamins
Vitamins and supplements are pricey. Who likes to spend their hard earned money on restocking vitamins every year? My mom rolls her eyes, but each year I ask that Santa bring me my multi-vitamins and calcium.

Gift Certificates
We all sigh as the gas prices keep rising. What is a more practical gift than a few gift certificates to Shell or Exxon Mobile? I'm grateful as I fill up my tank. Everyone enjoys a nice evening out. Why don't you stock their stuffing with a night out on the town? Choose a pricier restaurant they normally wouldn't frequent, or stash their stocking full of Taco Bell, McDonalds, and Wendy's certificates for them to cash in on the run.

Socks and Underwear
Yes, you heard me. We all need socks. We all need underwear. Sometimes we'd rather not spend money on them so why not stock your darling's stocking with some new boxers, or socks without holes in the toe.

Kitchen Items
For a young adult or someone just setting up house, some great ideas are carrot peelers, pizza cutters, ice cream scoops, placemats, napkins, chopsticks, kitchen towels etc Last Christmas I got a grapefruit knife and apple peeler and I love them!

Toiletries
Everyone loves their pearly whites, so why not give them a head start on oral hygiene for the year. Stash toothbrushes and floss in their stocking. Throw in travel size Kleenex or sanitizer, deodorant, body wash or loofahs.

Face Lotions and Serums
This is my one indulgence. I use a higher priced skin care routine named Origins. I love it, but the price tag is slightly higher than an off brand. I'm always extremely grateful to find my skincare items in my stocking.

Stock Their Pantry
What are their favorite snacks? Do they like popcorn? Nuts? Dried fruit? Instead of filling their stocking with fattening and sugar laden goodies, stuff it with some nutritious snacks to keep them munching throughout the year.

Gosh I buy most of these (well not the unders) just thinking they will use them so I guess it is being practical! My kids always love gift cards for movies and their favorite stores.

That was an excellent article. We have been receiving toothbrushes and toothpaste for years, but there were many suggestions that I had not thought to put into a stocking. Thanks for the tips!
